Open Source & Licensing
The weapons, armor, and other devices used with the True Saga system are made to be open source and available for all to build and enjoy. To make it official, we wrote out an open source license so there is no confusion. We want everyone to enjoy the fun of adventuring. So here is our commitment to that.
The License
License Used: CERN-OHL-P v2.0
True Saga Open Hardware License The physical gear designs used in the True Saga system are released as open hardware under the CERN Open Hardware Licence – Permissive v2.0 (CERN-OHL-P-2.0). This license applies to physical design information, including but not limited to: Build guides Diagrams Dimension references Wiring layouts Component placement examples Photos or illustrations showing construction methods You are free to: Build your own gear Modify the physical designs Manufacture gear for personal or commercial use Share or sell physical builds There is no requirement to publish modifications or improvements. What This License Does NOT Cover This license does not apply to: Firmware or software Game rules, damage systems, or encoding logic Communication protocols Calibration or validation tools All software and digital systems remain proprietary and are owned by True Saga Imaginations, LLC. Compatibility Notice Modified or third-party hardware is welcome. However, official True Saga play requires hardware that behaves identically to the reference designs, as the firmware depends on very specific physical characteristics. Changes to materials, geometry, sensor placement, or electronics may result in incompatibility with official firmware or events. FCC / RF Notice True Saga Imaginations, LLC does not manufacture, sell, or distribute RF transmitters or RF modules. Any RF components used in player-built gear are user-supplied.
